Yugen Kaisha(YK)

YK is similar to the limited liability company (LLC) in the U.S., and often used when the owner(s) prefer to save the initial cost of formation of a company. The number of owners (members) of YK is limited to 50, and the minimum initial paid-in capital is 3,000,000 yen. At least one officer is neede to form YK, which makes the establishment easier compared with KK.

Please note that the establishment of YK is only possible before April 30, 2006, because the New Company Law that abolishes Yugen Kaisha Law and integrate the system of YK into KK is scheduled to be effective from May 2006.
